   Professionals : Lawrence E. Seck

   Lawrence Seck has over thirty-five years’ experience in health care policy and financial management. Prior to joining Hinckley, Allen & Tringale, Mr. Seck spent ten years as the Senior Vice President of Finance and Treasurer for Morton Hospital and Medical Center, a community hospital in Taunton, MA. In this position, Mr. Seck was responsible for planning, evaluating and directing all aspects of the financial administration of the hospital, several owned physician practices and affiliated homecare services and property management companies. As the organization’s CFO, Mr. Seck had a broad scope of accountability encompassing the development and management of operating, capital and cash budgets, long range financial planning, investment strategy, managed care contracting, health information management, corporate regulatory compliance, and government relations. While at Morton, Mr. Seck developed a number of successful joint ventures with other health care providers and private health management companies and completed several tax exempt financings, including a major hospital bond issue. He also has extensive experience with the negotiation of supply contracts, equipment and property leases, collective bargaining and physician employment agreements, and third party payment contracts for hospital and physician services.

Mr. Seck spent over twenty years at the Massachusetts Hospital Association, where he held a number of senior-level positions. As Senior Vice President of Health Care Finance during the period of extensive hospital rate and determination of need controls, Mr. Seck played a key role in the Association’s advocacy on state and federal payment policy and regulation, and in the negotiation of statewide payment contracts with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. He served on a Gubernatorial Commission on Health Reform and represented member hospitals in the formulation of several Massachusetts health care financing laws, including hospital price deregulation and creation of the statewide uncompensated care pool. As Senior Vice President for Business Ventures, Mr. Seck provided strategic direction to the Association’s consulting, medical software and insurance subsidiaries.

Mr. Seck holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from The Ohio State University, and an MBA from Babson College. He is a past Board member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (MA Chapter) and received the Association’s Francis M. Hernan Award for outstanding contributions to the field of healthcare financial management.
